ADOT Announces Weekend Freeway Closures and Restrictions for Oct. 11-14 in Phoenix Area

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced Thursday that several closures and lane restrictions will be in effect on Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (Oct. 11-14) for improvement projects.

ADOT advises motorists to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.

I-10 Closures:

• Eastbound I-10 will be closed between State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) and Ray Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for the Broadway Curve Improvement Project.
• Ramp closures:
• • Southbound I-17 ramp to eastbound I-10 near Sky Harbor Airport.
  • Southbound SR 143 ramp to eastbound I-10.
  • Westbound I-10 ramps to eastbound US 60 and northbound SR 143.

Detours: Drivers can use eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to reach eastbound I-10 beyond the closure. West Valley drivers can use southbound/eastbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway).

Additional detour: To avoid ramp closures, use eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to reach eastbound US 60 or Loop 202 in Tempe.

US 60 Closures:

• Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) will be closed between Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and I-10 from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for bridge and sign work.
• Ramp closures: On-ramps at Country Club Drive, Alma School Road, and Dobson Road.

Detour: Use northbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to reach Sky Harbor Airport or downtown Phoenix.

Loop 101 Closures:

• Northbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) will be closed between I-10 and Thunderbird Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday for pavement sealing. Sections will reopen as work progresses.

Detour: Use northbound 91st or 99th avenues.

• Southbound Loop 101 will be closed between Thunderbird Road and I-10 from 9 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday for pavement sealing.

Detour: Use southbound 91st or 99th avenues.

I-17 Restrictions:

• Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between SR 74/Carefree Highway and Loop 303 during mostly overnight hours:
• • 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday
  • 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday
  • 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday

On- and off-ramps at Dove Valley Road and Loop 303 will be closed intermittently.

• Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane from Jomax Road to Loop 303 during overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights for pavement work.
