Third dog death under investigation after stay at pet store in Virginia
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is investigating the death of a third dog after a stay at the PetSmart PetsHotel in Potomac Yard. The agency was originally contacted on July 1, 2024, regarding the death of a dog while being boarded at the PetSmart PetsHotel located at 3351 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA. There has been an active investigation to determine what led to the dog’s passing. An autopsy was an animal autopsy done. The results have yet to be determined.

Vienna Youth Players Presents “Newsies”
The newsboy strike of 1899 is at the heart of Vienna Youth Players summer production, “Newsies.” This classic Disney tale, based on true events, traces its roots back to the time when newsies – boys and girls who sold newspapers on the street – went up against two newspaper publishers, Joseph Pulitzer of the New York World, and William Randolph Hearst of the New York Journal, to fight for the chance to earn a livable wage. “Newsies” takes this real-life event to the stage with an explosion of energetic music and dance.
Dunkin’ Donuts to open in August
Dunkin’ Donuts is expected to open on Columbia Pike in Annandale the first week of August, according to the general contractor working on renovating the building. The shop will offer the same items as any other Dunkin’ Donuts: donuts, coffee, latte, espresso, frozen drinks, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and muffins.
Kapow Buddy opening at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda
Is coming soon to Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. It's the latest in a long line of Chipotle-style fast-casual bowl restaurants. This time, the theme cuisine is Thai. Your imagination will suggest to you that a grain base will be loaded with vegetables, proteins, and Thai cuisine toppings, and - incredibly - your hunch is correct. In fact, Westfield says in its promotion of the restaurant that "Kapow Buddy is eager to introduce their famous Thai food in the 'Bowl Style' to offer customers a variety of choices including grains, proteins, toppings, and more." When it opens, look for Kapow Buddy on Level 1 in the Old Navy wing.

Marco’s Pizza closes location in southern Loudoun
The Marco’s Pizza restaurant in the South Riding/Chantilly area of southern Loudoun has closed its doors for good. The announcement was made today via social media. “It is with a heavy heart I inform you that Marco’s Pizza in South Riding has permanently closed for business as of yesterday,” co-owner Chris Browne wrote. “It has been a pleasure serving the community over the last seven years. Unfortunately, we were just unable to keep up with rising costs and have reached a point where staying in business has become unsustainable.”
