Speed limit to drop on Kansas Avenue east of Riley

Students in the Kansas City area have racked up thousands of dollars in school lunch debt since universal free lunch ended two years ago. Over 1 million acres have been burned by wildfires so far this year, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. There are currently 60 large fires active nationwide, with 10 new fires in the last few days. Just like the last several summers, widespread smoke from these wildfires is impacting parts of the Plains and Midwest. However, for now the smoke plume is just northwest of the Kansas City region.
