UHRICHSVILLE ‒ Mayor Jim Zucal says the $6 million upgrade to the BellStore on McCauley Drive will be a wonderful new addition to the city of Uhrichsville.

The upgrade of the property at 102 McCauley Drive will include gas and diesel islands, a car wash, and 5,500 square feet of retail space. The project also involves rebuilding Gardner Street, which runs behind the facility.

The mayor said the project will help generate sales tax revenue.

"It's just an exciting time for Uhrichsville," he said. "It's going to be a big addition to the community. I appreciate city council working with the administration bring this huge investment. We're doing what's best for the city as a whole."

Campbell Oil Co., a Massillon-based company which operates BellStores, acquired 16 Starfire gasoline and convenience stores from the Hartley Co. of Cambridge, along with 15 dealer-operated locations, in 2019. Campbell purchased the McCauley Drive location on Oct. 17, 2019, for $501,511, according to records from the Tuscarawas County Auditor's Office.

As part of the project, Campbell Oil also acquired the 922 Drive-thru and Michael's car lot. The properties were located on either side of the BellStore on McCauley Drive.

The work is expected to be completed around the first of October.
