In a statement, Buenos Aires Security Ministry communications director Pablo Policicchio said that he “had jumped from the balcony of his room.” Police had been called to the scene around 5 p.m., saying that Payne died shortly after they arrived. Local authorities confirmed that an investigation is underway, and an autopsy will be conducted.
