Since signing up in 2011 as a volunteer baker for Cake4Kids, Robin Wolfgram has baked more than 200 cakes. “I think the exact number might be 204,” Wolfgram said. As impressive as that number is, though, it is just a small percentage (0.68%, to be exact) of all the cakes Cake4Kids volunteers have baked for Bay Area children since Libby Gruender founded the organization in Sunnyvale in 2010.
Exclusive: Oakland will not meet state's deadline to fix 911 response times
Update: At 10:45 PM Tuesday 7/2/24, the Oakland Police Department released a media statement saying Cal OES is now collaborating with OPD after learning the department will not make the upcoming July 26 deadline to improve its 911 response times. In a new letter, Cal OES told OPD it "...will take no further action. In the event the answer times standard does not improve, Oakland PD may be subject to referral to the Attorney General for further action."

1 killed, another injured in East Oakland shooting
One man was killed and another person was injured in a shooting in East Oakland on Monday afternoon, police said.Officers responded around 3 p.m. to the 900 block of 105th Avenue and pronounced an Oakland man with multiple apparent gunshot wounds dead on the scene, police said. Officers later learned another victim of the same shooting had been transported to a hospital in a private vehicle, police added. The victim is in stable condition, according to the last report to the police.Oakland police investigators from the department's Homicide Section are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
