The City of Gainesville has a renewed effort to solve several cold case homicides, offering significant rewards for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Authorities are offering up to $10,000 for tips that help resolve these mysterious cases--some that date back decades.

"The following cases are currently unsolved...but we will continue to investigate diligently as new leads come in. Please help us bring the persons responsible for these crimes to justice," writes the Gainsville Police Department on their unsolved homicide page, which includes a brief overview of the following cases.

Additionally, a reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information regarding the line-of-duty death of Gainesville Police Department Officer Scott Baird, who was killed on February 12, 2001.

Officials urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing justice to the victims and their families. Detective David Blizzard is the point of contact for these cases and can be reached at 352-393-7710 or via email. Tips can also be submitted to the Investigations Tip Line at 352-393-7700.

The Gainesville community is reminded of the importance of seeking justice and closure for both the living and the deceased, as expressed in the police department's motto: "To the Living We Owe Respect, To the Dead the Truth."
