A Duval County resident was cited for feeding wildlife despite previous warnings, according to the latest Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) report. Officers responded to multiple complaints about the homeowner placing food in their yard, which attracted raccoons and led to property damage in the neighborhood.

The FWC's website states that it is illegal to intentionally feed, leave out, or allow the placement of food or garbage in a way that attracts coyotes, foxes, or raccoons, as it can create or contribute to a public nuisance.

Despite being previously educated about these laws, the resident continued the activity. When officers arrived, they observed two piles of cat food in the yard. The homeowner admitted to placing the food and was issued a citation.
