Video Captures Brazen Thief Stealing Vehicle While Owner Pumps Tires in Broward County

On August 31, at approximately 5 p.m., a thief stole a vehicle while its owner was inflating a tire and today the Broward County Sheriff's Office shared the video.

In the North Lauderdale district, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of the auto theft at 8000 Hampton Boulevard.

The victim was pumping air into his 2020 black Chevy Equinox when an unknown man approached, asked about the tire, and later stole the vehicle.

Surveillance video captured the interaction and shows the suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with red letters and red and black shorts.

Detectives are seeking information from the public. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Lisa Sokol or submit tips through the SaferWatch app or Broward Crime Stoppers.
