Unconscious Boater Turns Aggressive, Flees Scene After Violent Blackwater River Crash

Officers are pursuing an arrest warrant after investigating a serious boating accident that occurred on Blackwater River, according to the most recent Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) weekly law enforcement report. The incident involved a vessel that collided with the river's tree line, resulting in significant damage, including the motor being completely torn from the boat.

According to a witness, the operator of the vessel was found unconscious after the collision, while an occupant sustained minor injuries. The witness rendered aid but reported that upon regaining consciousness, the operator became aggressive, threatening the bystanders and instructing them not to contact law enforcement. Following the threats, the operator fled the scene.

Officers were able to locate both the vessel and the suspect a few days after the incident. An arrest warrant will be obtained for fleeing the scene of a reportable boating accident.
