Tipical Latin Food Corp., based in Miami, has issued a recall for its Cachapa de Maiz sweet corn pancakes labeled under the brand Los Andes Foods, due to the presence of undeclared wheat. According to the FDA release, this poses a serious health risk to individuals with wheat allergies or sensitivities, who may experience severe or life-threatening reactions if the product is consumed.

    Product Details:

    • Brand Name: Los Andes Foods
    • Product: Cachapa de Maiz Sweet Corn Pancakes
    • Lot Numbers: Ranging from 2622404 to 2772412 (found on a blue label at the bottom of the bag)
    • Packaging: Yellow label, vacuum-sealed bag

The affected product was distributed to TRIMAR USA LLC in Miami, which further distributed it to retail and wholesale customers. To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

The issue was discovered during an internal investigation after it was found that products containing wheat were distributed without the allergen listed on the packaging. The labeling issue has since been identified and corrected.

    What Consumers Should Do:
Consumers who purchased the affected Cachapa de Maiz are urged to return the product to the place of purchase or contact TRIMAR USA LLC at 786-703-6161 to arrange a return.
