No Fingerprint, No Entry: Florida Prisons Enforce Stricter Rules for All Visitors Over 12

The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has announced the statewide launch of a new security measure to enhance visitation safety at all correctional institutions. Now, all visitors aged 12 and older will undergo biometric background checks through the new Rapid ID system upon arrival for visitation.

The Rapid ID system uses a fingerprint capture device to instantly cross-check criminal history data with both state and national databases. This system is designed to provide an additional layer of security by verifying identities and identifying any outstanding criminal activity.
