Grambling and Louisiana Tech Start Soccer Season

Grambling and Louisiana Tech started the season on Friday afternoon with both on the road. The Bulldogs had to wait a day for their kickoff against Nicholls in Thibodaux. Grambling Lady Tigers had a quick road trip against LSU-Alexandria and jumped on the road to Hammond to take on Southeastern Louisiana.
Grambling 7, LSU-Alexandria 0 (Friday)
The Grambling Lady Tigers dominated the Lady Generals in Alexandria on Friday afternoon. Grambling goal scoring came from two goals each from Jayla Gage, Sophia Lezizidis, and Charlotte Cuthbertso. Adalie Hernandez also added a goal for the Lady Tigers. Grambling outshot LSU-A 24-4. The Lady Tigers had multiple opportunities in their third as they had 13 corners to the General 1. Kaia Brace had two saves while Madison Covey-Taylor had one.
Jayla Gage started the scoring for the Lady Tigers in the 31st minute with an assist from Adrianna Pratt. Lezizidis added a second goal in the first half in the 40th minute. The Lady Tigers took a 2-0 halftime lead.
Top shot taker Gage nailed her second goal of the match in one of her five shots in the 51st minute. Not to be outdone, Lezizidis snagged her second goal in the 67th minute. The Tigers pounded three goals in the final ten minutes. The barrage of goals began with Adalie Hernandez's goal in the 82nd minute. Cuthbertso scored her first goal just 16 seconds later. Cuthbertso ended the scoring with another goal in the final minutes.

The Bulldogs (0-0-1) started the soccer season with a 0-0 tie in Thibodaux against the Colonels. Tech outshot Nicholls 16-2 but was unable to score. Cadence Rutledge pulled in one save for the Bulldogs. Louisiana Tech also had multiple opportunities in their third as they 8 corners to none by Nicholls. Avery Kyle and Kyra Taylor were the top shooters with three apiece.

Grambling (1-0-1) made a trip south to Hammond and walked away with a scoreless tie from the Lady Lions. The two squads were evenly matched as Southeastern slightly outshot Grambling 8-7. Kaia Bace and Madison Covey-Taylor had two saves each in the tie. Adalie Hernandez was the only Lady Tiger to get multiple shots with 2.
