    LCU Open Volleyball Season at Rams Invitational

    Mobile 3, LCU 1 (18-25, 15-25, 25-22, 17-25)

    The Louisiana Christian Lady Wildcats (0-1) came up short in its opening match against the host Mobile Lady Rams at the Rams Invitational. Kierra Jones led the Lady Wildcats with 8 kills and also had 9.5 points. Emma Cother helped with 23 assists. Jones along with Angelina Medrano, Cother, and Madison Danley each and an ace. Kate Campbell had the lone block for the Lady Wildcats. Leah Stamps kept the action rolling with 18 digs.

    LCU stayed close to 5-3 in the first set until the Rams went on a 7-1 run to a 10-6 lead. The Lady Wildcats closed the gap to 11-9 with kills from Mallory Wills and Kate Campbell. Mobile fired off five consecutive points to stretch its lead to 16-9. Mobile took the first set 25-18.

    Mobile jumped out early on three kills by Porch-Maxey to take the 10-2. Summer Martin cut the Rams lead to 11-6 with two kills. Mobile pushed the lead back to nine at 16-7 led by two kills from Dazha Dean Middleton. Mobile moved to a 2-0 set lead with the 25-15 win.

    The Lady Wildcats would not go quietly as they opened the third set 4-1 sparked by a kill by Wills and a block by Jones and Campbell. Mobile would close in to 7-5. The Lady Wildcats would capitalize on some attack errors and an ace by Madison Danley to go on a 7-1 run and increase their lead to 14-6. Mobile would close in again 17-15. LCU sparked another 4-1 run sparked by an ace and kill by Kierra Jones and went to 21-16. LCU held on to stop the sweep with a 25-22 third-set win.

    The two stayed with two points in the fourth set to Mobile’s 14-13 slight lead. The Rams’ Kendall Lee had two kills and Tatum Beech ace gave them. 4-1 run and an 18-14 lead. That started the roll for Mobile they would score two to LCU’s one point. The Rams finished the match with a 5-1 run which included three kills from Corrina Porch-Maxey.

    LCU Lady Wildcats continue in the Rams Invitational with two matches on Friday. The Lady Wildcats will face Southeastern (2-1) Fire of Lakeland, Florida at 8 am and Louisiana-based Dillard (0-0) Blue Devils at 6 pm
