    ULM and Louisiana Tech Take Midweek Wins And Other Midweek Action

    Mobile 2, LSUS 0 (Tuesday) (Men)

    The Pilots (0-1-2) dropped their first match of the season. The No. 24 ranked Pilots were outshot by the Rams 10-3 in the match. The three shots were taken by David Vejsmose, Jack Thomas, and Joel Trub. Kyle McIeish snagged 1 save. The Pilots were hampered with 6 yellow cards in the final 30 minutes.

    Mobile scored the first goal by Henrique Mendes in the 31st minute with an assist from Noah Miller. The Rams carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.

    Emilio Cazares added a second Ram goal in the 55th minute. Mobile held on for the 2-0 win.

    Mid-America Christian 2, LSUS 1 (Thursday) (Women)

    The Lady Pilots dropped to 0-2 for the season after a trip to Oklahoma City to face the MACU Evangels. Mada Uriarte tried to make the late comeback but too little too late. Mid-America Christian outshot LSUS 15-8. Alba Martinez Alvarez led the Lady Pilots with 3 shots. Melanie Garcia had 5 saves for LSUS.

    Stephanie Arrivllag scored in the 14th minute for the Evangels. MACU had the 1-0 halftime lead.

    Arrivllag scored her second goal in the 80th minute to give the Evangels the 2-0 lead. LSUS’ Uriarte stopped the shutout in the 84th minute. MACU held on for the 2-1 win.

    No. 2 Williams Carey 5, LCU 1 (Thursday) (Women)

    LCU (0-1-1) headed to Hattiesburg, MS to come up short against the NAIA No. 2 William Carey Crusaders. The Wildcats have not defeated William Carey in the seven matchups. Valeria Barriga Casa scored the lone goal against William Carey. The Crusaders outshot LCU 27-3. Valeria Barriga Casa, Kamsi Nwosu, and Emma Monnett each took a shot. Jaycee Woods got 7 saves

    The Crusaders didn’t waste time scoring as Zalma Torres scored in the 2nd minute. William Carey added another goal before the half when Lesley Vasquez netted a 43rd-minute goal. William Carey led 2-0 at halftime:

    Christina Salmon bumped the score to 3-0 for the Crusaders assisted by Kokona Nishikawa in the 58th minute. LCU’s Valeria Barriga Casa put the Wildcats on the board with a goal in the 74th minute with an assist from Kayleigh Tomasich. Kristina Decker and Tiare Hermosilla added two more goals for William Carey.

    ULM 2, McNeese State 0 (Thursday) (Women)

    The Lady Warhawks (5-0) remained undefeated with another win. ULM has only given up one goal this season. Janne Van Brummelen and Kai Douglas both popped the back of the net with penalty kicks each. The Lady Warhawks outshot McNeese 18-2 and not allowing a shot in the second half. Skylar Blaise and Kai Douglas led the way with 3 shots each. Jennifer Handy had one save for ULM.

    Neither team could score in the first half but ULM had the first opportunity in the 63rd minute when Janne Van Brummelen scored her first goal of the season. Another penalty kick in the 76th minute gave Kai Douglas her third goal of the season.

    Louisiana 1, NSU 0 (Thursday) (Women)

    The Lady Demons (0-4) are not only looking for their first win but also the first goal of the season. NSU didn’t find it in Lafayette as the Ragin Cajuns snuck past 1-0 on Thursday night. The lone goal came from Aila Swinton in the 55th minute. The Demons were outshot 18-2 without getting a shot in the first half. Madison Murphy and Julia Pinho Magno each had a shot for NSU. Libe Banuelos had 3 saves

    Arizona State 2, Grambling 0 (Thursday) (Women)

    The Lady Tigers (2-2-2) traveled to Tempe, Arizona to take on the Big 12 Arizona State Sun Devils. Grambling held off a score in the first half, but Keri Matthews scored two second-half goals to give the Dun Devils the win. ASU outshot Grambling 25-4. Madison Covey-Taylor had 7 saves. Kaia Bace added 5 saves in the second half.

    The Grambling defense held the match scoreless in the first half. Second Matthews scored in the 56th and 65th minute to give the Sun Devils the win.

    Louisiana Tech 4, Jackson State 1 (Thursday)(Women)

    Louisiana Tech (1-1-3) finally put a one in the win column in a big way with a 4-1 win over Jackson State Tigers. Kyra Taylor had two goals while Emma Jones and Dakota Merino each had one. Tech outshot Jackson State 15-10. Kalli Matlock led the Lady Bulldogs with 3 shots. Sarah Melen took in one save.

    Although weather delayed the start, Tech scored fast with Jones scoring in the 3rd minute. Jackson State countered just about as quickly when Karime Antonio Lopez scored in the 6th minute. Kyra Taylor gave the advantage back to the Bulldogs with a goal in the 38th minute. Tech took the 2-1 lead into halftime.

    The Lady Bulldogs looked to hold on to that score until the final 10 minutes. Merino scored in the 82nd minute to give Tech a little breathing room at 3-1. Taylor added her second goal in the 88th minute took give the Bulldogs the 4-1 win.
