Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone to appear at Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival
Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone will be in Vermont in August to screen a trio of films at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival. Stone will show and discuss three of his movies – “Platoon,” “Wall Street” and one more to be announced, according to a news release from the festival. The Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival takes place Aug. 21-25.

NY weather update: Flood warning previously issued will expire at 9:30 p.m.
The warning was for Essex County. "The Flood Warning will expire at 9:30 p.m. this evening for portions of northern New York, including Essex and Vermont, including Addison and Rutland county counties. The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining road closures," says the National Weather Service.
National Weather Service Issues T-Storm Watch
The Berkshires, Eastern New York and parts of Southern Vermont are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. on Tuesday. There is a marginal to slight risk for severe thunderstorms for most of the region Wednesday. Thunderstorms may produce isolated to scattered instances of downed trees, tree limbs and power outages due to damaging wind gusts.
Burglary suspects caught on camera at Vt. state park
WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - Police say a pair of burglars were caught on camera at a Vermont state park. It happened at the ranger station at the Waterbury Center State Park around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Vermont State Police say two men broke into the station and left with a safe.

Burlington seeks more money to fix old pipes; vision for road improvements coming together
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The city of Burlington is looking for more cash to fix old pipes that were unintentionally broken during infrastructure upgrades. Part of the ongoing Main Street construction project includes fixing a sewer, but during that work, old water and wastewater pipes are falling apart due to their age.
