Championship spotter and Bristol native Bob Jeffrey passes away after cancer battle
Bob Jeffrey, a championship spotter in both the NASCAR Cup Series and the Indy Car Series, passed away after battling cancer. He was 65 years old. Bob was a native of Bristol and attended Tennessee High before his family moved to West Virginia before his senior year of high school. He returned to the area to pursue a career in racing, working for Henderson Motorsports and Ed Whitaker Racing as a tire changer.
Maynardville Food City to celebrate remodeling reopening in late July with special deals

Food City has wrapped up remodeling work at the Maynardville location off Main Street. 3M and Discovery Education recently announced the state merit winners of the 2024 3M Young Scientist Challenge, the nation’s premier middle school science competition. Among the top winners list was Shrey Arora, student at West Collierville Middle School, who took home the Tennessee State Merit Award, alongside many other honorable recipients.

Carter Edwards, a 2024 graduate of Unicoi County High School and the son of Russell "Rusty" and Katrina Edwards, won an award in Orlando, Florida at the 2024 National Technology Student Association Conference.
