Former Rapid City Mayor Jim Shaw has died
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) — Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun released a statement Friday afternoon, saying he is saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Shaw. Salamun says along with his years in broadcasting and announcing at the race track, many in the city knew Shaw from his years as mayor. Shaw served four terms in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Progress being made on Vermillion’s damaged wastewater system
VERMILLION, S.D. (KTIV) - Since their sanitary sewer systems were hit by flooding, Vermillion crews have been working on repairs. On Friday, July 5, Vermillion sent out a press release saying crews have installed a temporary sanitary sewer line connecting Main Lift 2 and Main Lift 1. These lifts transport sanitary sewage across the Vermillion River to the local wastewater treatment plant.

Wasta Volunteer Fire Dept. To Build New Fire Hall
(Rapid City, SD) — The Wasta Volunteer Fire Department has big plans in place. After raising over 500-thousand dollars, the department plans to build a new fire hall. Cattle Group Celebrates Record-Setting 25th Anniversary Convention
DEADWOOD, S.D. – Nearly 500 predominantly cow/calf producers, cattle backgrounders, and feeders from over 25 states recently gathered to celebrate R-CALF USA’s 25th Anniversary Convention in Deadwood. Other attendees consisted of sheep producers, consumers, state and national legislators, industry representatives, and several thousand online viewers. The event also drew a record number of sponsorships and a sold-out trade show.
