Why temporary traffic lights are placed ahead of the Sturgis Rally
RAPID CITY, S.D. - With Bike Week right around the corner, South Dakota Department of Transportation has been busy getting roads rally-ready. With traffic volumes expected to increase during the motorcycle rally, several temporary traffic signals have been installed. Seven are in place on South Dakota Highway 34, one at the intersection of Highways 44 and 38, another at the intersection of Highways 44 and 16 at Three-Forks, and two on I-90's Exit-32 for eastbound and westbound traffic.
Water line break near Eglin Street, traffic detoured to Beale Street
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The story has been updated with new information. A water line break happened Friday morning on Eglin Street Avenue to Lowry Lane. The crew was able to complete repairs on the water line and restore water services for the businesses that were impacted this morning.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Pactola Reservoir is a popular location for swimming and recreation, it is also home to the Black Hills’ version of Atlantis. An old illegal gold mining town, called Crook City, was once located where the Pactola Reservoir is now located. Those dam beavers: Rapid City's struggle with the voracious mammals
RAPID CITY, S.D. - Rapid City Parks is getting a little help limiting the damage along the creek caused by beavers. The Parks Division says beavers play an important role in Rapid Creek's watershed. However, with the number of beavers increasing, so too has the damage to trees along the creek's banks. To help limit the damage, volunteers will be helping sand-paint some of the trees.
