U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez was convicted Tuesday on 16 counts of bribery in his federal corruption trial. Union City is Menendez's hometown and it's also where he got his political start, working as part of the Union City Board of Education and then becoming mayor of the city in the mid-80s. Some Union City residents were upset to hear that someone they trusted was found guilty on all counts in a federal corruption trial. Many are now calling on the senator to resign. "You know there's too many politicians in the state that have been getting away with this stuff for so long and it's about time somebody went down and I hope he goes down to the fullest extent of the law. He should resign immediately, drop his appeal,” said Christopher, a Union City resident. “This is the second time, second trial correct?
