Union County arrest report - June 18, 2024
Hayley J. Vandel, 31, of Thayer, was taken into custody June 17, at Thayer Lake Road and Willow Avenue on the charge of driving while barred. According to a Union County report, at approximately 3:40 p.m. deputies stopped a Ford F250 for a traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Vandel, who was discovered to have a barred license. She also admitted to deputies she knew her license was not valid.
Creston woman booked on warrant for weapon possession by a felon
(Creston) -- A Creston woman was arrested on a Union County warrant early Saturday morning. The Creston Police Department says 46-year-old Brandie Sue Whitney was arrested shortly before 1:45 a.m. on a warrant for possession of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon. Authorities say the arrest occurred at The Lobby in Creston.
Adair County Woman Faces Charges in Union County
(Creston) A Greenfield woman faces harassment charges in Union County. The Creston Police Department arrested 35-year-old Jessica Lee Marintha Ferber on Monday at the Creston Union County Law Enforcement Center on charges of 2nd Degree of Harassment-threaten bodily injury. Officers cited and released Ferber from custody.

FEMA attempting to reach storm-stricken farmers through agriculture recovery centers
TREYNOR, Iowa — FEMA is opening agriculture recovery centers in Iowa to help farmers and producers. The first agricultural recovery center in the Midwest Thursday put agencies and farm industry groups in one room at Treynor's community center. More are scheduled for Union County at Southwest Community College in Creston, on June 18. Another in Polk County is still being organized, according to a spokesperson.
