Unlike Aiyuk, Williams isn’t seeking an extension to his current contract but is looking for guaranteed money. At this point in his career, Williams knows any given snap could be his last, yet he remains arguably the best tackle in the league. Williams, who just turned 36 years old, has three seasons left on his contract, but none of it is guaranteed. He is scheduled to make solid money over the next three years, with base salaries of $20.05 million, $22.5 million, and $32.21 million, respectively, putting him near the top of the market. However, he wants reassurance. If the 49ers cannot make that happen, the Chicago Bears should consider a deal to bring Williams in to protect Caleb Williams‘ blindside.
