    Funeral services arranged for fallen mid-Missouri assistant fire chief

    UNION, Mo. – Funeral services have been arranged for Matthew Tobben, an assistant fire chief who died in the line of duty in mid-Missouri.

    Tobben, an assistant chief for the Boone County Fire Protection District, died Monday during a swift water rescue operation when he and three others were thrown from a boat. The other three occupants were rescued.

    A visitation will be held Friday from 3-8 p.m. at the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union, Missouri.

    Funeral services, which will include full fire service honors, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at East Central College in Union.

    There will be a procession with fire service members from the funeral home to the college prior to the start of funeral services. A private burial will follow the funeral.

    Fire, EMS and police agencies interested in participating in the procession should fill out this online form .

    Tobben was 42 years old. A procession was also held Tuesday from Columbia, Missouri, to his hometown of Union, Missouri, in honor of his memory. Tobben is survived by his wife and two sons.
