Cross Country Finishes Second In Season Opener
MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Mississippi State's cross country team took home second at the City Auto Memphis Twilight XC Classic Saturday night. "Tonight was a good overall showing from our women's team!" head coach Chris Woods said. OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Jaxson Dart threw five touchdown passes and ran for a score in leading eight consecutive first-half scoring drives, helping No. 6 Mississippi overpower Furman 76-0 on Saturday night. Dart opened the scoring with a 15-yard run and the Rebels raced to a 52-0 halftime lead in the opener for both teams. Dart was 22 of 27 for 418 yards in the first half before yielding to Austin Simmons, who added a touchdown pass in the third quarter. “I’ve been three years in this offense, so I’m comfortable and the offensive line played great, kept it clean,” Dart said. “When you’ve got the receivers that we’ve got catching the ball and know how much time they put in, it’s a lot of fun. We had fun tonight.”

Flashes Couldn’t Overcome Cathedral in a 34-10 loss
St. Aloysius took a 34-10 loss to Cathedral on Friday night. By halftime, the Flashes were down 21-10 and eventually gave up two late scores by the end of the night. Despite the loss, Thompson Fortenberry had an impressive night with 180 rushing yards and a touchdown. Carson Snith finished with 80 rushing yards while John Ellis Montgomery nailed a 33-yard field goal. Walt Andrews also caught a 23-yard pass.
