Chatham Golfer Rice Helps New Jersey Junior PGA Team Defeat Philadelphia Section to win Jon Pritsch Memorial Cup
BERNARDSVILLE, NJ -- Chatham High sophomore Roger Rice represented the NJPGA for the second year in a row in the junior circuit's season-ending Jon M. Pritsch Memorial, helping the Garden State contingent bring home the cup with an 11-7 win vs. a team representing the Philadelphia section. Rice clinched his match play round on the 14th hole to go up, 5 and 4, and teamed up with Ryder Hodgson to collect four birdies and five pars on the front nine in their 3 and 2 fourball win in the Ryder Cup style match play. Pritsch Cup is played in honor of Pritsch, a former competitive New Jersey golfer who had an impressive matchplay record in his junior career, and died tragically in May of 1991 at the age of 17. The Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Fund has raised over $175,000 and given over 100 scholarships to juniors who hope to pursue a career in golf.
