Troy Post 70 wins State Championship
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... The Troy Post 70 19U summer baseball team won its eighth straight American Legion Baseball State Championship this past weekend. Post 70 went 5-0 in the State Tournament to earn a spot in the American Legion Southeast Regional. On Friday, July 19, Troy started the tournament off with a 20-1 win over Post 107. Cody Walsh went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, one RBI and one run, while future Troy Trojan Cody Markham went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Troy native Payne Jefcoat earned a triple and two runs. Future Troy Trojan Brady Richardson also scored four runs.

Goldie is a 4-year-old female Chihuahua mix who must be spayed before adoption. She was found as a stray out in the county and no owner came looking for her. Goldie is white with black markings; and she only weighs 9 pounds. She is a friendly little gal who gets along well with other dogs. Detroit, MI – A 20-year-old Detroit man drowned Saturday morning while swimming in Taylor Lake in Rose Township. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Marsalis Quintin Carter, who listed residences in Detroit and Tuskegee, Ala., jumped off the side of a pontoon boat into the private lake and did not resurface. The Firehawks brought home some hardware. The Millbrook Firehawks, an 11U All-Star baseball team, traveled down to Baton Rouge and claimed the USSSA 11U All-Star World Series last weekend. The team, which consists of CJ Jackson, Jason Thomas, Justice Gadaingan, Karson Wilson, Shawn Compton, Christian Lewis, Chase Deaton, Carter Taylor, Cam Smith, Caden Southerland and Brantley Jackson, went 6-1 in the tournament and outscored opponents 57-21.
