    Candidate filings close for local races

    Filings for local races have officially closed as of Tuesday, Aug. 13.

    Municipal offices, school boards and state races now have the official lists for candidates running for those offices in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

    In the Princeton and Milaca areas, races that will appear on local ballots include Baldwin City Council and mayor, Bock City Council and mayor, Foreston City Council and mayor, Milaca City Council and mayor, Milaca School Board, Mille Lacs County Soil and Water Supervisors for districts 1 and 2, Mille Lacs County Commissioner District 3, Pease City Council, Princeton City Council, Princeton School Board, State Representative District 10B and State Representative District 27B.

    Below are all of the candidates who have filed for those local positions listed by city office in alphabetical order.

    Baldwin City Council

    - Mayor: Jay Swanson and Travis Ekbom

    - City Council member, two-year term (elect 2): Matthew Johnson, Bruce West, Jeff Holm, Tom Rush, Lance Valarius and Mark Bavier

    - City Council member, four-year term (elect 2): Scott Case, Cartell Cooper, Chase Springman, Thomas Andrews and Alan L. Walker

    Bock City Council

    - Mayor: Adam Booth

    - Council Member (Bock) (Elect 2): Krystal Harvey, Allan Schlueter

    - Council Member (Bock): No candidates filed

    Foreston City Council

    - Mayor: Tom Langfield, Wyman Rothanberg Jr., and Brian Smelter

    - Council member (elect 2): George Boyer, Scott G. Guzy, and Rick Narr

    Milaca City Council

    - Mayor: Dave Dillan

    - Council Member (elect 2): Dan Hollenkamp, Lindsee Larson and Tim Poorker

    Milaca School Board

    - School Board member (elect 3): Samantha Lange, Rakesh Muraharishetty, Nathan Neuhart and Aimee Struffert

    Mille Lacs County Soil and Water districts

    - Soil and Water Supervisor District 1: Daniel K. Campbell and Mark Riverblood

    - Soil and Water Supervisor District 2: Timothy Braun

    Pease City Council

    - Council member: Keith Cook

    Princeton City Council

    - Mayor: Jack Edmonds and Chad J. Rowland

    - Council Member (elect 2): Monica Bockoven Hatch, Bob Guptil and Dericka Haugen.

    Princeton School Board

    - School Board Member (elect 4): Dawn Bourdeaux, Scott P. Bowman, Christopher Klinghagen, Chuck Kobes, Eric Strandberg, Jennifer Super and Bret Yuker

    State Representative District 10B

    - Isaac Schultz (R) and JoEllen Burns (D)

    State Representative District 27B

    - Bryan Lawrence (R) and Andrew Scouten (D)

    The Union-Times will be compiling voters’ guides for each race that will help voters get to know the candidates prior to voting day. Look for the voters’ guides in the Union-Times in early- to mid-October.
