Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... The Zion Chapel Rebels (1-0) will host the Ellwood Christian Eagles (0-1) this Friday, Aug. 30. Zion Chapel defeated Coffee County rival Kinston by a score of 27-20 in the season opener last Friday. John Foster Hamm led the Rebel offense, completing 5-of-9 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown, while Zach English also threw a 36 yard score. Brayden Benbow rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Hamm also tallied 60 yards on the ground.
Dallas County Hornets sting Francis Marion Rams with opening night win
The Dallas County Hornets traveled to Marion on Friday night to face the Francis Marion Rams for their season opener. Dallas County came out on a mission this first game to start their season off with a bang. The Hornets were able to defeat the Rams on the road 28-14.

The Local Lemon held their official Grand Opening at their new store front on Saturday in Prattville. Their store is located at 702A Commerce Court in Prattville. They offer the freshest, most delicious variety of lemonades in town including sugar-free options as well. Their big day consisted of serving refreshing lemonade drinks, hosting local vendors in store, a food truck, and raffle giveaways from area businesses.
Prattville opens flag football season with three-game sweep in Hoover tournament
HOOVER -- Prattville’s flag football team opened the 2024 season with a sweep of Brookwood, John Carroll and Hewitt-Trussville in Hoover’s kickoff tournament on Saturday. John Carroll hosted the qualifying tournament for its area last year before losing in the first round to eventual 1A-5A state champion Wenonah. Hewitt-Trussville reached the quarterfinals of the 6A-7A playoffs last year before losing to Lee.

Alabama mom shot dead 'by ex' in front of kids as child leads police officer to her body
A mother was shot dead in front of her children who later led police officers to find her dead body. Shannette Yvonne Colbert, 35, was shot dead at her home at the 2700 block of East Cottonwood Road in Dothan, Alabama, on Friday, August 23. Her ex-boyfriend Phillip Lee McAdoo, who is also the father of one of her children, has been charged with capital murder.
