Drought almost completely gone in Missouri
The drought in Missouri is almost completely gone, thanks to recent heavy rains. The latest drought monitor map shows only a small oval-shaped area of abnormally dry conditions that covers parts of Newton, Jasper, Barry, and Lawrence counties in southwestern Missouri. There’s also a thin sliver of abnormal dryness south of Branson along the Arkansas border.

Hit and run crash on Highway 11 leaves elderly Kirksville man injured
A crash occurred on Highway 11, five miles west of Troy Mills, at approximately 8:19 a.m. on July 18, 2024, as reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Charles E. Lacost, 85, of Kirksville, Missouri, was traveling eastbound when it was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling westbound. The unknown vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with the Silverado before fleeing the scene.
Pettis County man sentenced to 20 years in prison for molesting two children
A Pettis County man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing two minor children. Marlon Lange, of Green Ridge, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of third-degree child molestation. He was sentenced to 10 years on both counts but will serve them back-to-back for a total of 20 years.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The leaders of an Independence church work to sell property as the church’s former pastor denies multiple allegations against him. The board of directors at EPIC Church KC announced another church is interested in buying its current home off Route 291 in Independence. The board said it is also working to sell the church’s parsonage as soon as possible, according to an email that went to members of EPIC Church KC Thursday afternoon.
