Charlotte has made significant strides in improving economic mobility for its low-income residents, according to data from a national study released Thursday. The report, Changing Opportunity: Sociological Mechanisms Underlying Growing Class Gaps and Shrinking Race Gaps in Economic Mobility, is a 10-year follow-up to a 2014 report that placed Charlotte dead last among 50 major U.S. cities in terms of economic mobility.
