MOSAIC: Tacoma’s Arts and Culture Festival Celebrates a Multifaceted South Sound Community
Like a dazzling piece of artwork, MOSAIC: Tacoma’s Arts and Culture Festival, will gather many facets of the South Sound for a weekend of music, dance, cuisine and multicultural appreciation for all ages. MOSAIC is free to attend and will take place at Tacoma’s Wright Park on July 27 and 28.

When Marilyn Mahnke moved to Gig Harbor 20 years ago, she discovered a group of people dedicated to keeping their Norwegian heritage alive through painting. Mahnke’s maternal grandmother was part of an influx of immigrants who came to the United States in the 1800s. They brought with them traditions, household items and craft forms. But it wasn’t until Mahnke moved to Gig Harbor that she became interested in rosmaling, a Norwegian folk art style of painting.
