Opinion: Why We’re Getting Arrested at Citibank in Tribeca
“For years, Citi has refused to confront the issue of its fossil fuel business. And so, we are there, outside the bank’s headquarters, blocking the doors, being led away in handcuffs in the desperate hope that our acts may trigger Citi’s leadership to finally start treating global heating like the existential threat it is.”
Getting higher in the standings will be fun for Orlando City SC
Yes, it was a draw instead of a win. But the recent match where Orlando City SC faced New York City FC demonstrated how far the squad’s defense progressed. Orlando City SC isn’t an exception. Few MLS teams get praised for defense. It’s more fun to talk about through balls, free kicks, and shots on goal.

Retro Fair Haven Gals’ Fair Show Boating
The heat is on and the countdown has already begun to the Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair. And, back in the day, the 1960s day, the fire department, rather than raffling off a car, SUV or a big chunk of cash (as in Super 50/50), decided to make a boat the prized prize of the fair. And they advertised that with the help of some fire department-affiliated bathing beauties.

Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter Merce Lemon has a new album, Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild, out in September, and ahead of that she has a few shows lined up this summer. She stopped in Brooklyn for a show at Elsewhere Zone One on Sunday, where her set included her lovely recent singles “Will You Do Me a Kindness” and “Backyard Lover,” and a beautiful cover of Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s “I See a Darkness.” Her earnest folk gets some noisy roughened edges from the riffs that guitarist Reid Magette was ripping throughout, and it makes for a great combination.

Review: A chameleon's dance at Little Island
NEW YORK, NY.- In the work of choreographer Pam Tanowitz, it’s not uncommon for dancers to match the space around them, dressed to blend with their environment. Those designs — costumes that quote the Joyce Theater’s geometrically patterned chairs or the muted gold of the David H. Koch Theater — are more than clever visual choices. They’re a statement on the inseparable nature of dance and space: how dance is inevitably shaped by where it happens, and how dancers can infuse a place with new life.

Two for Lindor, one for McNeil

His second home run of the night—an opposite-field shot in the top of the ninth—was his 19th of the season, tying Pete Alonso for the team lead.
