Mets Monday Morning GM: A fair David Stearns criticism
David Stearns, as it turns out, had a pretty good offseason. By far his weakest additions were some of the pricier bullpen pieces added into the New York Mets bullpen. Maybe to some extent, it has been too trigger-happy.
Today on Pinstripe Alley - 7/22/24
Blerg. That’s the Yankees’ vibe after coughing up four dingers to the Rays for the second game in a row. They entered the second half with more homers than only the Marlins, Nationals, and White Sox. The pitching’s giving up too many bombs and the offense is dead outside of Soto and Judge, but don’t tell that to Aaron Boone. Just trust him! It’s not at all like he’s giving the same dewey-eyed, overly-positive comments that he gave during the Yankees’ other terrible extended stretches from 2021-23. Fun stuff.
Devils in the Details - 7/22/24: The Squire Edition
A look at the well-balanced defense the Devils should now have: “With the additions of Pesce and Dillon and hopefully a bounceback season from Jonas Siegenthaler, the Devils should have three defenders who post positive ratings on the defensive side of the game. Sheldon Keefe will be able to pair this trio with three defenders who all had positive offense ratings last year: Dougie Hamilton, Luke Hughes, and Simon Nemec. The Devils will have a defense with above-average players in both aspects of the game.” [Infernal Access]

None of us living in the squat, two-story cinder-block warehouse across the street from the cruise ship terminal took the mandatory evacuation order seriously. During...
