On May 10, Calvert sheriff’s drug enforcement deputies observed an alleged drug transaction in the Breezy Point area of Chesapeake Beach. Shortly after that, the alleged purchaser overdosed and needed to be administered Narcan to survive.

The alleged drug dealer, identified in court documents as Kevin Demetrius China, 35, of Upper Marlboro, was present when the Narcan was administered. His vehicle was searched by a K9 deputy. The search yielded numerous syringes, capsules, vials and an undetermined amount of suspected fentanyl.

On May 11, China was charged with distribution of a narcotic, possession of a narcotic with intent to distribute, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless endangerment.

China is being held without bond. A district court hearing on the charges he is facing is scheduled for June 10.
