Further details have emerged regarding the three-car collision that claimed the life of Minnesota Vikings fourth-round NFL Draft pick Khyree Jackson in his hometown of Upper Marlboro, Maryland .

The defensive back was heading northbound in the passenger seat of a maroon Dodge Charger near Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue when an Infinity Q50 driver, now identified as 23-year-old Cori Clingman, attempted to change lanes at high speeds and struck the vehicle. Investigators noted that alcohol could have been a "contributing circumstance in the crash."

"Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed three lives this morning in Prince George’s County..." a July 6 statement from the organization read . "Investigators believe Clingman attempted to change lanes while driving at a high rate of speed when she struck the Dodge Charger and then struck the Chevrolet Impala. The Charger subsequently traveled off of the right side of the roadway and struck multiple tree stumps where the vehicle came to rest."

Jackson and Isaiah Hazel, 23, were both pronounced dead on the scene just north of Dower House Road by attending emergency responders, while fellow 24-year-old Anthony Lytton Jr. was transported to the nearby University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center and died under the watch of hospital personnel. Both Hazel and Lytton were standout football players as well, completing Division I careers at Charlotte and Penn State respectively in recent years.

Troopers from the Forestville Barrack responded to the crash at 3:14 a.m. Saturday morning, and Jackson's mother Ebbony revealed to TMZ that she received news of the fatal incident at 4 a.m.

Clingman's car had two passengers in the car during the accident while the third vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala, was occupied by a sole motorist. All passengers from these two vehicles left the incident uninjured and criminal charges are currently pending an investigation led by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.

Saturday's incident occurred just five miles from Jackson's alma mater at Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, where his blossoming 6'4 frame helped him snag 12 receiving touchdowns his senior season. "The Dr. Henry A. Wise Athletic Department sends condolences to the families and mourns the loss of Khyree Jackson (State Champ 2016 c/o '17) Anthony Lytton, Jr. (AJ) (State Champ 2015,16,17 c/o '18) and Isaiah Hazel (State Champ 2015, 16, 17 c/o '19)," the school wrote on Twitter Saturday.

Poor grades saw Jackson forgo the Division I route and begin his career at the JUCO level, attending Western Arizona, Fort Scott and East Mississippi, the setting for Netflix's "Last Chance U," before forging an excellent FBS career. Jackson played 12 games in Alabama's run to the 2021 College Football Playoff title game and became a standout performer on Oregon's defense this past season with 35 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks, ultimately attracting the interest of Minnesota in the fourth round.
