The car crash that killed Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson and two friends spawned even more tragedy Friday night when a deadly shooting happened after a candlelight vigil held at a Maryland high school.

A man died and a woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

All three were killed in the early-morning hours of July 6 , when their car was struck by another driven by Cori Clingman, who allegedly tried to change lanes at a high speed. Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Jackson, 24, was selected in the fourth round of April’s draft out of Oregon and was in line to contribute to the Vikings as a rookie.

Police are investigating what led to the shooting outside the vigil.

Fox 5 DC reported that shots rang out in the parking lot in front of the school and one victim was hit in the leg and the other in the chest.

A gun was recovered at the scene, according to The Baltimore Sun , but no arrests have been made.

Captain Sukhjit Batth, acting commander for the major crimes division of the Prince George’s County Police Department, described the scene of the vigil as “peaceful” during a Facebook Live video.

He added that police left once most of the crowd dispersed but returned to the school after hearing gunshots.

“They were flagged down by citizens who were actually performing life-saving measures on an adult female victim,” he said. “Officers located another adult male victim and with the help of our citizens on scene started performing life-saving measures. Both adult victims got transported to area hospitals. Unfortunately, our adult male victim was pronounced [dead] at the hospital.”
