The second phase of Upper Merion Township’s Single-Use Plastics Ordinance went into effect on Monday.

Single-use plastic utensils are now banned, which means restaurants can no longer provide them for take-out or dine-in services.

Businesses who fail to comply could face fines between $50 and $250 following an initial warning.

The first phase of the township’s Single-Use Plastic Ordinance included a single-use plastic bag ban.
