Infant dies after being pulled from hot car in North Jersey, police say
A 6-month-old girl died after she was left alone in a parked vehicle in East Hanover, prosecutors said, as heat and high temperatures soared Wednesday afternoon. East Hanover police responded to a 911 call around 1:30 p.m. to a parking lot in the area of South Ridgedale Avenue at Route 10 and found the infant in a parked vehicle, according to a statement from the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
Four women on one in phone robbery
A group of young women delivered a beatdown on a fellow female and stole her phone on the subway system July 7, according to police who want your help in identifying them. The four mean girls approached their 23-year-old victim at about 2:15 a.m. that Sunday inside the 21st Street-Queensbridge subway station in Long Island City, the NYPD said. They punched and kicked her multiple times, took her phone and fled on foot to parts unknown. The victim was transported by EMS to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan in stable condition.

Jersey City Police Officers Arrested Following Off Duty Incident
JERSEY CITY, NJ - Two off-duty Jersey City Police Officers were arrested on Thursday and charged in connection with an incident during which they, and a third man armed with a baseball bat, reportedly entered a private Jersey City residence and threatened to harm multiple individuals. Man shot in the back in Brooklyn
Police are searching for four suspects wanted in a shooting in Brooklyn.At least six shots were fired just before 8 p.m. Friday in East New York near the elevated subway tracks on Livonia Avenue.A 38-year-old man was shot in the back. Burgos abruptly announces resignation, effective immediately
In a surprise Friday afternoon announcement, Assembly Member Kenny Burgos released a statement saying that he had resigned from the state Legislature, effective immediately. The move brings Democrats’ ranks in the Assembly down to 100, the lowest it has been in years and the bare minimum to hold onto the party’s veto-proof supermajority.
UNC star point guard Elliot Cadeau from West Orange brings European youth hoop teams to U.S.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — For the past few years, Elliot Cadeau has been an inspiration to countless young basketball players and fans. The point guard from West Orange, who is enjoying a stellar career for the University of North Carolina basketball team, has created his own AAU organization and has brought two European youth teams to the United States. The teams, named Team Cadeau, consist of players ages 15 to 18 from Sweden, Norway, Holland and Italy. They arrived July 8 and stayed in West Orange, before departing for Harrisburg, Pa., for two back-to-back tournaments July 10-12.

Big box store shopping in New Jersey just got smaller
In an ever ugly and sad trend another big box store announced that they are closing a chunk of their stores and trying to reorganize to stay above drowning in debt. National discount retailer Big Lots, with close to 1,400 stores nationally including twenty-seven in Monmouth and Ocean counties here in New Jersey, has announced that they are closing up to forty stores nationally and opening three more. Big Lots closed fifty-two stores in 2023 due to inferior performance.
