Beloved NYC venue The Bell House now being run by Live Nation
Brooklyn venue The Bell House has been bought out by the Live Nation corporation and some fans are worried that could mean up-and-coming performers will be squeezed out. Opened in a former Gowanus printing press warehouse in 2008, the Bell House was previously independently owned and known for showcasing a range of comedians and storytellers, with many getting their initial break at the venue. Live Nation, currently facing a Department of Justice antitrust suit which claims it runs a monopoly on live music in the US, quietly bought the venue earlier this year, the New York Groove first...

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – Officials shut down a large facility selling cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms in the Bronx, according to Sheriff Anthony Miranda. Community complaints led investigators to the large store on Timpson Place around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, which officials said was selling unregulated drugs. Over 1,200 pounds of THC concentrate, cannabis flower, edibles and […]

Loud noise reported on Staten Island, rest of NYC. Official shares meteor theory
A loud noise similar to an explosion was reported by residents across Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan and New Jersey on Tuesday morning. After several hours of speculation by residents on social media, an official with the city Emergency Management department said that NASA confirmed that a meteor entered the atmosphere above Manhattan.
3 former Braves players the Mets should trade for to help catch Atlanta
No team should ever specifically target ex-players from a particular team in order to get better. The New York Mets only went after a slew of former Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees this past offseason because of their availability. Manager Carlos Mendoza’s familiarity with players like Harrison Bader and Luis Severino as well as David Stearns’ experience trade additions Adrian Houser and Tyrone Taylor all made sense for a Mets club with a whole lot of 40-man roster vacancy.
Orlando City Extends Unbeaten Streak to Five with a 1-1 Draw Against New York City FC
Saturday night's soccer match at the Inter & Co Stadium was all about maintaining streaks and setting the stage for the upcoming Leagues Cup. Orlando City faced off against New York City FC, each determined to extend their form, and the result was a tactical 1-1 draw. Orlando City now carries a five-game unbeaten streak, according to ClickOrlando, while WESH highlighted the effort of Lions’ forward Ramiro Enrique, who continued his scoring run, now tallying four consecutive matches with a goal.
Luis Severino Dominates While Bullpen Holds Serve
Luis Severino entered Saturday’s start with an opportunity to get back on track. His previous three starts were not so good. Specifically, 1-1 with a 6.05 ERA in 19 1/3 innings. It was also a chance to push the New York Mets back in the win column, who had lost two games in a row. Severino was magnificent throughout, dominating the Miami Marlins’ lineup from start to finish.
Yankees potential trade target: Josh Bell
The hole has not been quite as glaring over the last few weeks, but first base has been a real low point for the Yankees in 2024. As easy as it is to love Anthony Rizzo, saying his outlook is a bit grim would be fair, as after his excellent 2022 in pinstripes, he was just a league-average bat in 2023, and has looked lost at times this season when he’s been on the field. As a unit, for a position that typically should provide plenty of thump, the Yankees have been seriously lacking for much of the season. Looking externally could be a reasonable solution, and Josh Bell of the Marlins could fit that bill fairly well.
Aaron Boone's excuse for DJ LeMahieu shows why Yankees will never be serious
It's been genuinely sad what's happened to DJ LeMahieu. Most New York Yankees fans aren't even mad about the lackluster play anymore. They've just realized that the situation has run its course and the team needs to figure out another solution. When LeMahieu signed his six-year, $90 million contract after...
An under-the-radar Mets free agent signing that deserves more praise
Easily the best minor league free agent signing by the New York Mets this past offseason was the addition of Jose Iglesias. An impact player both on the field and behind the scenes, the culture around the ball club has been entirely different since he was recalled to take over off the bench and now routinely as a starter on the infield.
Rempe, Bastian, Siegenthaler: Recent Players in the NHL’s Continued Headshot Cycle
Nathan Bastian last played for the New Jersey Devils on February 22, 2024. He played 1:41 over 3 shifts. This was for two reasons. The first was Matt Rempe taking out Bastian with a headshot. Clear as day from just the thumbnail preview picture in the video from Scouting the Refs. Rempe was ejected for this hit with a match penalty. There was no additional punishment from the league.
Unlike greedy NYC, some states are placing new limits on, even eliminating speed cameras (opinion)
New York City has gone all in on speed cameras in a bid to get more and more money out of drivers. But some states and cities are putting limits speed cameras, if not getting rid of them entirely. A state law that recently went into effect in Louisiana has...

Only Ramapo, And Villages Of Haverstraw, Nyack & Kaser On Path To Participate In State’s Pro-Housing Community Program.
