Mayor Wu Announces New Grant Funding To Expand Swim Safe Boston
BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mayor Michelle Wu announces an expansion of Swim Safe Boston. On Thursday, Mayor Wu, the City of Boston’s Human Services Cabinet and Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) announced that $250,000 in new grant funding is available for non-profit organizations in Boston that offer free swim lessons for children. Wu also announced that the BCYF Clougherty Pool in Charlestown is expected to reopen by the end of July.
Red Sox release 2025 schedule, with Opening Day set for March 27 on the road
The 2024 Red Sox haven’t even started the unofficial second half of their season yet, but it’s not too early to look ahead to 2025. Major League Baseball released next season’s regular season schedule Thursday, mapping out the 162-game journey each team (including the Red Sox) will embark on. The Red Sox open the season on the road in Texas against the Rangers on Thursday, March 27, then after four games there and three more in Baltimore, will head to Boston for their home opener against the Cardinals on Friday, April 4. It’s the first time Boston has ever hosted St. Louis for its home opener.

Alleged Porch Pirate Caught in Milford
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – An alleged porch pirate has been caught in Milford. Tuesday afternoon a neighbor called 911 to report a man stealing a package from a porch before leaving in a red car with a Rhode Island registration. Police spotted the car and after a short chase stopped the guy on Quinshipaug Rd. Wilber Arias of Pawtucket is charged with larceny, receiving stolen property and a whole host of traffic violations including fake plates and no registration. They have not yet said if they had found other missing packages on him at the time.
Milford Woman Held Without Bail for Near-Fatal Stabbing Incident
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – A Milford woman is being held without bail for Monday morning’s stabbing incident on Purchase Street. Milford Police say Sandy Villeda Martinez is charged with assault to murder, mayhem, obstruction of justice and more for the incident in what investigators are calling a near-fatal assault. A Police spokesman tells the Daily News it’s being considered a domestic incident. Martinez has a court hearing Friday to determine if she is a danger to the public. The victim reportedly remains in serious but stable condition.
