Mosquitos with West Nile virus detected in Blackstone, health officials say
A recent mosquito sample collected in Blackstone tested positive for West Nile virus, according to town officials. The sample was collected in the southeast quadrant of Blackstone, town officials said in a press release Wednesday evening. In response, the Central Mass Mosquito Control Project (CMMCP) has agreed to spray pesticides in that area on Friday, July 19, after 8:30 p.m. They may spray the area again in the future if additional sprays are warranted.
