ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Three events Wednesday highlighted the uneven progress of the offshore wind industry in the Northeast, including the start of a major project in New York, research aimed at preventing environmental damage in New Jersey, and a temporary shutdown of a wind farm in Massachusetts after a broken turbine blade washed ashore on a famous beach.

WORCESTER — 5 former Worcester Bravehearts were selected in the 2024 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, held Sunday to Tuesday in Fort Worth, Texas. Worcester’s 5 draft picks mark the most among any Futures Collegiate Baseball League team. Since 2015, 29 total Bravehearts alumni have been selected in the MLB Draft.

Man charged in Boston pub fire found not competent for trial
The man charged over a fire at a popular pub in Boston's Mission Hill neighborhood was found not competent to face the charges during a hearing Friday. Prasiddha Baruwal had been ordered to undergo a mental competency exam after being arrested in connection with the intense fire at The Squealing Pig, which its owners have said was destroyed. Video showed a person inside burning restaurant, which had its windows smashed as well.

6 Massachusetts residents charged in double murder that left 5 others injured
Lynn, Mass. – The Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker has charged six suspects in connection to the drive-by shooting that left Jandriel Heredia, 21, of Revere, and Abraham Diaz, 25, of Lynn dead, and five others injured. The shooting took place at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at a gathering held at 189 Essex Street in Lynn. The following defendants have been charged with two counts of murder: Justin Alba, 25, of Peabody; and Lynn residents Darwin Batista, 20; Yefferson Vallecillo Cambar, 22; Carlos Ramirez Corniel, 16; Leonardo Espinoza, 15; and Abel Severino Reyes, 21.
Main Street Corridor Project update: Utility line transfer work continues on project’s west side
The town on Friday issued an update on the Main Street Corridor Project. Overhead utility line work will continue on the west side of the project during the upcoming week. Polar Vortex’s painting crew will continue its work on the traffic poles, repairing peeling paint. Scheduled hours for this work will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and hours may be adjusted based on traffic flow patterns. Locations for repairs include the intersections of Main Street and Commonwealth Avenue, Pleasant Street, Grove Street, Church Street and Hayden Rowe Street, as well as in front of the Fire Station.
