Sean “Diddy” Combs is believed to be in a fragile mental state while he awaits trial on federal trafficking charges at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in New York City, People magazine exclusively reports.

A source told the outlet the mogul is "in shock," as he comes to grips with being confined to a jail cell.

Diddy was arrested on Monday, Sept. 16. He’s been charged with 3 counts and faces 15 years to life in prison.

On Friday, Sept. 20, TMZ published video of the moment the mogul was taken into custody at the ritzy Park Hyatt New York hotel in Manhattan.

The footage shows Diddy, who is wearing a black trench coat, and his entourage enter the hotel lobby. Within seconds, they are approached by law enforcement agents in plain clothes. The agents flash a piece of paper, which is believed to be a warrant.

The agents then separate Diddy from the other men in his group without incident, and escort the mogul to an elevator. The video cuts to agents surrounding Diddy as they walk through the lobby and the music producer is handcuffed.

The mogul was denied bail twice this week, by separate federal judges.

During his appeal hearing for pre-trial release, Diddy’s legal team argued that he was being held in “horrific” conditions at the MDC.

The detention center houses around 1,600 inmates, and is considered among the worst lock-ups in the New York area.

Combs’ lawyers acknowledged as much in a motion for bail filed Tuesday.

His legal team wrote, “Several courts in this District have recognized that the conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center are not fit for pre-trial detention," according to a Daily Beast report on Tuesday.

“Just earlier this summer, an inmate was murdered,” the legal team also wrote.

Combs' attorney, Marc Agnifilo has requested the mogul be transferred to a jail in Essex County in New Jersey, but so far the Bureau of Prisons has not issued a decision.

Another conference hearing is set for Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.
