CBS has announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated medical mystery series Watson.

Watson, which stars Morris Chestnut (Boyz n the Hood, The Resident) as the title character, will premiere right after the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at 10 PM ET/9 PM CT.

Based on the late 19th century characters created by British writer and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the series takes place six months after the death of Sherlock Holmes at the hands of his mortal enemy Moriarty.

Here is the official description: “Dr. John Watson (Chestnut) resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.”

Eve Harlow (The 100), Peter Mark Kendall (The Americans), Ritchie Coster (Happy!), Inga Schlingmann (So Help Me Todd), and Rochelle Aytes (S.W.A.T.) also star in the mystery show.

Watson is produced by CBS Studios, and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

The showrunner and executive producer is Craig Sweeny, who also wrote the premiere episode.

Chestnut will be serving as an executive producer alongside Sallie Patrick; Larry Teng; Shäron Moalem MD, PhD; Aaron Kaplan for Kapital Entertainment; and Brian Morewitz.

Larry Teng (Supergirl, Medium) directed the first two episodes.

After the premiere, Watson will be airing in its regular time slot beginning on Sunday, Feb. 16.
