MKE County: Whitnall Beer Garden Opening This Weekend
Milwaukee County Parks is opening Whitnall Park Beer Garden as a pop-up this weekend. When Parks opens the beer garden for service on March 2 and 3 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., it will be the first time since 2017 the department has hosted a winter pop-up. The beer gardens are typically opened in April and remain open into October. But the unseasonably warm weather is creating an opportunity Parks can’t pass up.

Evers Seeks Compromise on Republican PFAS Bill
Democratic Gov. Tony Evers is proposing a compromise to GOP lawmakers that would provide $125 million to help local governments and landowners address PFAS pollution. The request comes as Evers has all but promised to veto a Republican bill that passed the Legislature to address contamination from so-called forever chemicals known as PFAS, short for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.

Three County Officials Could Get Pay Hike
Three elected officials in county government could see their salaries bumped up to six figures next year, provided the Milwaukee County Board approves and they win reelection. Milwaukee County’s Department of Human Resources is seeking to increase the annual salary for the County Clerk, Register of Deeds, and the Treasurer to approximately $102,000. All three are constitutional officers, as they are positions enumerated in the state constitution.

New Corporate Headquarters, 130 Jobs For Downtown

MCTS Seeking Board Approval For 27th Street BRT Line
The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is seeking approval of its final plans for a second bus rapid transit (BRT) service running through the 27th Street corridor.
