Salaried workers will now qualify for overtime pay under new law
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — Starting Monday more workers will qualify for overtime pay. If you make less than $43,000 per year, you could soon see more money in your paycheck. Up until June 30, only workers making less than $35,000 qualified, but now that threshold is $44,000 a year.
Two 2025 Florida prospects commit to Illinois football

Two overnight apartment fires displace Champaign residents
Overnight, the Champaign Fire Department responded to two apartment fires that resulted in significant property damage and the displacement of residents from their homes. The first fire occurred at 11:36 p.m. on Monday, at an eight-unit apartment building in the 500 block of E. Columbia Ave. The fire was reported by a passerby. Firefighters arrived to find a growing fire and went inside to investigate, where they encountered a fast-moving attic fire.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Starting this month, 1-, 2- and 3-year-old children living in nearly 150 communities in Illinois will need their blood screened for lead, a test that wasn't previously required in those parts of the state.The Illinois Department of Public Health announced an expanded list of high-risk ZIP codes this year, including more than a dozen in Cook County, increasing mandatory testing for lead exposure of children who live within those areas.
