Driving Force Band to perform on Prouty Plaza
TROY — The Driving Force Band will perform on Prouty Plaza in Troy as part of the Friday Prouty series on Aug. 2. The Driving Force Band is a classic rock and party band comprised of seasoned musicians playing the best music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Throwing in a few country hits, 80s hits, and dance music, they strive to cover everyone’s favorites. The band possesses tight three and four-part harmony and works hard to replicate the songs as close to the original as possible. You can expect to hear some Journey, some Styx, and anything from the Eagles to Prince, to Keith Urban, according to a press release.
$2M grant helps Troy get one step closer to starting Great Miami River Project
TROY, Ohio (WKEF) -- The City of Troy received another grant, this time from the state's 2024 capital budget to go toward the Great Miami River Recreation Connectivity project. The grant is for $2 million. The project now needs less than $1 million more to reach enough funding to cover the estimated cost of it.

Lima Police Department investigating body found in wooded area downtown
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Police Department is investigating a body found Monday afternoon. Around 12:30 p.m., police received a report of a body found in a wooded area on the corner of Jackson and Market Street, beside the train tracks. The body had been there for a significant amount of time and appeared to be male. There were no signs of a struggle or clues as to the cause of death where it was found. The deceased individual was sent to the Lucas County Coroner to determine their identity and cause of death, but a report may not be complete for several weeks.

A house for sale in Maumee has gone viral on the “Zillow Gone Wild” Facebook page for an eccentric feature originally meant to deflect unwanted attention: the house is covered — floor to ceiling, inside and out — with bulletproof Lexan paneling. The house, previously owned and occupied by Trudy Stranahan of the Champion Spark Plug Company’s founding family, also boasts a robust driveway that cost an estimated $300,000 to build, plus $100,000 in fences. Breezeways connect the house to two outbuildings, one of which hosts a gym with myriad equipment, in addition to more workout equipment inside the main house. “She was just a unique person,” said Hanna Modene, a Realtor with the Jon Modene team at Re/max Masters, which listed the property. “I don’t think she liked not having security.” The property sits on five acres overlooking the Silver Lake and bordering Side Cut Metropark.
