Plat for proposed subdivision on Casper’s east side wins council approval
CASPER, Wyo. — A plat for a proposed 26.67-acre area for a development in east Casper won its final approval during the Casper City Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday. The council passed on third and final reading the creation of a plat during its regular meeting at its temporary chambers at The Lyric, 230 W. Yellowstone Highway.
City reopens southern Kiwanis Community Park
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The southern portion of Kiwanis Community Park, located off East Pershing Boulevard, has reopened following a seasonal closure for wildlife protection. The affected area contains a large pond that provides valuable habitat for many species of wildlife and is especially important to many species of waterfowl. Spring through early summer is a critical time of year for these species as they are nesting and raising their young. Disturbances during this time can cause them to abandon their nests or cause stress to young birds that cannot fly.

Powell resident Jhett Schwahn, 19, is thankful he always wears long pants when he hikes. Earlier this month, it might’ve saved his life from a rattlesnake bite. Balloonists injured in crash landing in east Casper Saturday
CASPER, Wyo. — A balloonist was injured Saturday after being ejected from the basket during a descent over east Casper during the annual Casper Balloon Roundup. Casper Police Department Spokesperson Amber Freestone said the event was reported around 7 a.m. Saturday. The Wyoming Board of Pharmacy is accusing a former pharmacist in Casper of illegally selling prescription fish medication. Daniel Kraft's license to distribute prescription drugs expired June 30, 2021. On August 4, 2021 the Board issued an order strictly prohibiting Kraft from "...renewing, reinstating, or obtaining any license from the Wyoming Board of Pharmacy for at least 10 years..."
Haze in Jackson Hole coming from wildfires in Idaho, Oregon and Montana
JACKSON, Wyo. — For those wondering where the haze that’s settled in Jackson Hole is coming from, the answer is wildfires to the west of the valley. The smoke from several large wildfires blazing in eastern Oregon, central Idaho and southern Montana is blowing east and settling in the valley, according to Brett McDonald, Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Riverton, Wyoming.
