Even Rihanna Has a Mom Uniform Just Like Us: ‘We’ve Got a Lot of Work to Do!’

We’re used to seeing Rihanna stepping out looking seriously glamorous at all times, but the star has revealed that, when she’s at home running around after her kids, she has a go-to mum uniform just like Us !

The singer and entrepreneur, who shares two young sons, RZA, 2, and Riot, 14 months, with her rapper love ASAP Rocky , spoke about her downtime look at the Savage X Fenty Lavish Lace Collection Preview at Nordstrom in Los Angeles last night (Thursday October 10).

“Anything that’s cozy, anything that’s stretchy,” she told People . “Anything that’s easy to bend down and pick my kids up in. Those are the things I look for. Things that don’t scratch me, don’t scratch them. We’ve got a lot of work to do in a day in the life of a mom!”

Like most busy moms — and especially those juggling a huge career with two energetic toddler boys! — Rihanna, 36, knows it can be hard to prioritize looking after herself when there’s so much else she could be doing, but she tries to make the time when she can. “It’s the small things,” she said. “Take my makeup off at night. These are just little things that mean a lot. It feels like self-care and it feels good.”

It’s great to know that, while we might picture Rihanna with a flawless face of makeup at all times, as well as dripping in designer couture and incredible jewelry, when she’s at home she might just be kicking back in some comfy leggings and a mom bun like the rest of us, frantically trying to do her skincare without getting smeared in peanut butter and jelly. As she’s joked via Instagram in the past, “Being a boy mom is an Olympic sport!”

Rihanna also wants to encourage other women to be as bold with their fashion choices as she is — even wearing lingerie as outerwear if they dare! “Lingerie to me should be worn any way and anywhere that you want,” she said at the launch. “Whether you want it to be seen on display outside of T-shirts, inside a jacket falling off, or just to be cozy or just to have a little support.”

OK, so it’s probably not a look most busy moms will be rocking as they rush from daycare to the office — at least not on purpose — but we love that Rihanna is so proud of her body, and we love even more that she’s made her Lavish Lace collection as size-inclusive as possible to inspire plenty of normal women to follow her body-confident lead.
