    Men's 400m hurdles final results: Team USA's Rai Benjamin wins gold at 2024 Paris Olympics

    Rai Benjamin was no stranger to Olympic heartbreak, falling 0.23 seconds from a gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics despite setting an American record.

    Three years later at the 2024 Paris Olympics , he got to enjoy the other end of that emotional spectrum.

    The 27-year-old American hurdler won the gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles Friday, closing strong to hold off Karsten Warholm of Norway — who beat Benjamin three years earlier in Tokyo — and Alison dos Santos of Brazil to cross the finish line first and bask in the euphoria of his accomplishment.

    Men’s 400m hurdles final results

    First-, second- and third-place finishes win the gold, silver and bronze, respectively.

    2. Karsten Warholm (Norway): 47.06
    3. Alison dos Santos (Brazil): 47.26
    4. Clement Ducos (France): 47.76
    5. Kyron McMaster (British Virgin Islands): 47.79
    6. Abderrahman Samba (Qatar): 47.98
    7. Rasmus Magi (Estonia): 52.53
    8. Roshawn Clarke (Jamaica): did not finish

    With Benjamin’s feat, the United States won gold on both the men’s and women’s side in the 400-meter hurdles, with Sydney McLaughlin finishing first in the women’s competition.
